
Dr Li Yuen presented her work on the effects of riparian buffers on pests in oil palm at the 1st International Conference on River Conservation (ICON-RC2022): Clean Rivers for Sustainable Life, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The research was conducted in Wilmar Plantations, and studied the effects of riparian widths, and forest cover in different ages of oil palm on the abundance and movement of rhinoceros beetles, caterpillars and Ganoderma fungus – key pests in oil palm plantations (see previous News).
