Biodiversity is crucial for countless ecosystem functions and services that we often take for granted, including pollination, nutrient cycling, pest control, and cultural values. However, multiple impacts, such as climate change and deforestation, result in the acceleration of biodiversity loss. This is poses serious environmental concerns, particularly in hyper-diverse tropical regions, such as Southeast Asia.
As part of the Climate Transformation Programme (CTP), the Tropical Entomology and Ecology Laboratory (TEE Lab) is proud to contribute to the Biodiversity Cluster alongside other leading principal investigators. Our research will focus on understanding the impacts of climate and land-use changes on biodiversity and the vital services it provides.
The CTP is a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at developing, inspiring, and accelerating knowledge-based solutions for a resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asia. The programme brings together expertise from climate and Earth science, ecology, artificial intelligence, humanities, health, and engineering, among other fields, to create innovative, real-world solutions for Singapore and beyond.
