What an incredible weekend it was at our first-ever Bioblitz at Gardens by the Bay! Supported by the Singapore Eco Fund and hosted in collaboration with the Bird Society of Singapore, Herpetological Society of Singapore, WWF Singapore, and us at the Tropical Ecology & Entomology Lab (TEELab), NTU, the event brought together over 150 nature enthusiasts and students from the Singapore Institute of Technology for a hands-on exploration of urban biodiversity.

The TEE Lab was thrilled to take part in this exciting initiative, with three dedicated teams leading dragonfly surveys across the water bodies of Gardens by the Bay. Our researchers served as both survey leaders and facilitators, helping participants to identify and document species while sharing fascinating facts about dragonflies and their ecological roles.

Beyond field surveys, we also hosted an interactive booth, where we showcased our research on insects, biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem services, and conservation science. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with kids, parents, educators, and curious visitors of all ages who share a passion for nature and sustainability. From hands-on field experiences to in-depth discussions at our booth, Bioblitz 2025 was a meaningful platform for science communication and public engagement. We were excited to share our passion for ecology, highlight the importance of urban biodiversity, and inspire the next generation of conservationists.

One of our favorite moments from Bioblitz 2025 watching young explorers get hands-on with insect specimens at the TEELab booth. Learning about biodiversity starts with wonder and discovery. Photo 2025 Uncle Teo.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and stay tuned for more exciting updates from the TEE Lab!
