For the 2nd time this year, the TEE Lab welcomed our visitors from Hiroshima University, Japan in Singapore. This visit had two main highlights – a sharing by TEE Lab’s Marx and also by Hiroshima University’s Aiman!

TEE Lab Project Officer Marx Yim gave a sharing about his experiences as a GBIF Data Mobilizer, including the steps required to get a GBIF Data Mobilizer badge, and both the challenges and celebrations of creating a large-scale, comprehensive database of Sabah dung beetles. The dataset may be found here.

Hiroshima University PhD student Aiman Aiman Luhkman also wrapped up the meeting by sharing about his 10-day trip in Singapore, whereby he was trained by TEE Lab members Zann Teo Jiexin and Dr Ong Xin Rui on morphological identification and molecular techniques. Read more about his experience at his blog post here!

Although the visit was short, it was undoubtedly filled with discussion. The TEE Lab looks forward to continued collaboration with the team of Japanese researchers in the coming year.
