Hello, Li Yuen here! On 15 May 2024, I was privileged to be part of another STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) educational outreach program at SJK (C) Kung Ming in Beaufort. We had an overwhelming participation of over 400 primary students, from grades four to six, and 20 teachers. We were also delighted that the event was showcased in a Special Feature article in the Overseas Daily Chinese News on 20 May 2024.

Similar to our previous STEM program, I was honoured to be the main speaker, where I shared about the captivating world of insects and forests and my adventures from scientific expeditions. The students were excited to learn about insects and the natural world. Using portable microscopes, they had a close-up view of the intricate patterns and structures of dung beetle specimens. They also took part in games, drawing and colouring activities at the educational booths. Once again, we are thankful to Institute of Tropical Biology and Conservation at Universiti Malaysia Sabah for preparing the booth on conservation efforts.

Through these events, I am happy to witness how outreach and education could inspire these students and teach them the importance of conservation. It has truly been a heartwarming experience, and we look forward to future outreach opportunities. For more information on this event, check out this Facebook post.
