Recently, our PhD student Nethmi from the TEE Lab, NTU, had the opportunity to deliver a public talk to undergraduate students from the Department of Natural Resources, Faculty of Applied Sciences, at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. This opportunity was kindly given by Prof. Enoka P. Kudavidange.

During the session, she shared her research journey and introduced the fascinating world of dung beetles, highlighting their ecological importance, distribution patterns, and functional groups. She also discussed why dung beetles are important organisms for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem functioning.

The presentation further covered field sampling methods, future research plans, and the importance of scientific research in ecology and conservation. In addition, she shared her experiences and insights on pursuing higher studies and research opportunities for students interested in building future careers in science and academia.

It was truly encouraging to interact with enthusiastic students and invite interested undergraduates to join upcoming field research activities as volunteers. We hope this session inspired more young researchers to explore the fields of ecology and entomology.
